Our friend and fellow Nepalese Chemist, Deepak Bhandari, has defended his PhD degree in chemistry successfully on January 24, 2011. Congratulations!! Dr. Bhandari.
His PhD work was focused on the development of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates and their implementations in analytical detections. Since SERS is interdisciplinary in nature, he has acquired significant experiences on molecular plasmonics, optical spectroscopy, surface chemistry, bio/chemical sensing, nanolithography, thin film deposition, etc. Most of his nanofabrication related works were carried out at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He has lead few peer-reviewed publications on nanofabrication and SERS related work.

Besides his dissertation work, he also served as a graduate student operator at the Center for Mass Spectrometry at the University of Tennessee. He has co-authored a couple of Mass Spectrometry related publications.
Recently, he has accepted a post doctoral associate position at the Chemical Science Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Congratulations again and best wishes for your future.
